Steinerei 2008: Remake

My entry for the Steinerei 2008 festival in Hildesheim, Germany, where it won the jury price. The film tells the story of, well, a remake. Enjoy. There are a few German texts in this film and I didn’t manage to add subtitles in time, but that shouldn’t distract you too much. Here’s what the texts say: (Sign at the Cinema) “Lichtspielhaus am Marktplatz”: “Cinema at the market place” (Lichtspielhaus being a rather oldfashioned word for film theater, it’s quite obvious he’s going to the movies afterwards but it may not be immediately) (Caption) “Du Schuft…”: “You scoundrel! Keep away from Senorita Margarita!”

The Artist

To a minifig, clay must appear to be a strange thing - no studs, no given shape, no use. Unless you’re an artist, of course. This is my entry for the Steinerei 2007 where it was chosen as “Best Film” by the jury.

The Fisherman’s Wife

“Vom Fischer und seiner Frau” is an old German fairy tale once told in Low German and later written down by the brothers Grimm. This is my somewhat modernised version of the tale and my entry for the Steinerei 2006 festival where the theme was the picturisation of an existing piece of literature. It won both prizes there, one awarded by the jury, the other one by the audience.

Greedy Bricks

Greedy Bricks was my first film and an entry to the 10-brick-contest in 2004 where it
placed third. The aim was to make a movie with no more than 10 elements in it.

Greedy Bricks tells the story of two bricks who get along fine until all of a sudden a coin rolls into the scene. Now that money is involved, will they stick together?

The wonderful guitar tune that accompanies this film is composed and performed by Jeff Wahl.
